Digimon Xros Hunter ep number confirmed

Yes, the televi-magazine, also the leak from 2ch has mention the "Final Battle Approaches", and there will be only
So we have been wondering, how many ep Xros Hunter has?
It has confirmed, the last ep of Digimon Xros Wars: Toki wo Kakeru Shounen Hunter Tachi will be on March, 25th.
That means there are total of 25 ep for this season.
The next anime series is confirm to be The New Saint Saiya

  1. That's actually pretty cool that its ending soon, cause that means we'll see all the main protagonists really soon. Also, awesome about the new saint seiya

  2. That means the end of the filler marathon and Tagiru's reign of terror?

  9. summarizing my theory

The old man is "Ryo" and using the Clockmon he gathered all the leaders of past seasons, traveling in each dimension and bringing them to the reality of Xros Wars. But leaders do not yet know the real reason for everything that is happening, just that the world of each one is threatened to be destroyed by something that is happening in reality Xros Wars (so they agreed to come).

On the other hand, Taiki is investigating the background events in Digiquartz, and is close to solving the mystery, meanwhile, Tagiru hunting the Digimon that appear (According to my theory, will last until the 30th episode of the season, ie episode 85).

In the 4 th phase of the anime, the leaders will face the Hunters (since they believe that hunters who are causing problems in the reality of their worlds, the old may have told another version of the story to them).

Taiki and the other will face each former leader and only after much war, everyone realizes that the real danger and motivator of all is acting behind them.

This something bigger behind it, and it manifests and has full connection with the events of last season Xros of wars, and the beginning of all the war that has fragmented the digital world in code crowns!

Here's a timeline of the anime:

Season 1 - Digimon Xros Wars
    EPISODE: 01 to 30
    OBJECTIVE: MEET THE CODE CROWNS

Season 2 - Digimon Xros WARS: THE 7 KINGDOMS AND DEATH OF GENERALS
    EPISODE: 31 to 54
OBJECTIVE: DESTROY THE GENERALS and restore the world

Season 3 - Digimon Xros WARS: YOUNG HUNTERS TRAVELLING THROUGH TIME
    Episode 55 to 85
OBJECTIVE: To hunt the Digimon that invade the DIGIQUARTZ

    Season 4 - Digimon Xros WARS: ??
    Episode 86 to
    OBJECTIVE: Defeat the leaders and....

  10. Still too early for now to tell if Time Hunters will indeed end.

Probably it can go with "The End" on 25, or, taking a similar pattern like the first season, as Time Hunters could also end up divided into two halves. (Complete with new time slot similar to the Death Generals of the first season.)

Maybe, the "filler" rich episodes we've currently been seeing could be the first half of the Season, "The one story finished on an episode". The second half could be plot driven; "That Day."

Then again, for now we might have to wait for further developments and later official announcements from Toei.

  11. Finally over! Now, still no info about the new time slot / the name of the new ark?

Don't be naive people, this obviously won't be the end of XW

This is what i think ether they are ending the series or going to start to the plot with new schedule different hour, because the new saint saiya are going to be air on the same day and hour as xros wars airs. that why im confused maby its the end maby they are just starting the new plot on different time and schedule dont know :/

So, there should be a 4th arc, but its title isn't confirmed....So, we just need to bear with a month or two, and probably, we will get to see some plot..

Yeah, I do think there is a 4th arc, and its going to be rescheduled in another time slot. We will only know the first-hand details of the 4th arc in Mid March?

Usually the last 2 episodes of each arc will have an interesting battle. Battle with Tactimon in the first arc, Battle with Darkness baguramon in the second arc, etc.

  19. Well, this is interesting news. Following the pattern from last season it seems the plan is to have two distinct smaller ‘seasons’, even if this new system maintains more or less the length of the old structure. Of course, while a fourth season hasn’t been confirmed yet I’m fairly confident it is going to be made, judging by how last season was structured.

Right now I think that Young Hunters is building towards something bigger. The show is preparing to reveal the Watchmakers true intentions, for good or evil; while the protagonists from previous seasons have yet to make their debut. Even with this ‘final battle’ looming it doesn’t seem like the end of the story to me. I’d like to see Toei use episode 25 as a way to set things up for the future.

I’ve been enjoying Young Hunters so far, I’d love to see it continue. Here’s hoping another season is on the way. A chance for the show to make its mark and establish itself as a great season of Digimon in it is own right.

  23. Everyone saying that this is the end of Young Hunters, you DID read that it says "end of the SEASON, not the SERIES?" Meaning it could possibly continue. Heck, I HOPE it does, cuz it NEEDS to atone for the current 20 episodes of no plot, or else, this Series will just be the absoulute sign that Digimon is dead. I mean, honestly, with how things are so far, even though I enjoy the animation, music, and fighting in this Series, it REALLY IS aiming for being the worst Digimon Series so far, and that's SAD. Just WHY can't we get Digimon Series that were as well done as the ones in the past anymore?

    1. I really think that you underestimate the potential of Young Hunters – I say that it is a good season of Digimon, one worth of this franchise’s long legacy. If anything Young Hunters has adopted a more Western style of storytelling; the strength of Young Hunters is that stand alone episodes can be watched without alienating those weren’t present for the start of the season.

Even so, Young Hunters does have an over arching narrative. We have seen the Watchmaker many times and yet we don’t know what he is planning; this is by design, he is an enigmatic figure that ties the stand alone episodes together. Still, what we do have is a great variety of episodes that has allowed Young Hunters focus on character development. With time devoted to more unique side characters on a regular basis, with a huge cast the like’s of which we haven’t seen since Tamers.

I say that Young Hunters should continue because it deserves to continue. Like the first season of Xros Wars, Young Hunters has featured high quality animation and a great soundtrack. The stand alone episodes have allowed Young Hunters to feature many additional side characters, including obscure and otherwise forgotten Digimon from this series’ past. I sincerely hope that Young Hunters is extended for a fourth season, to build upon the success this show already has.

Given equal time to its predecessors Young Hunters can become a show to rival any previous season of Digimon.

      Delete
    2. Yea, we see that the Watchmaker is planning something, but we've so far had only ONE hint into actually what it is, other than the appearance of the Digimon Leaders. It'd be nice to see other small hints of this.

And even if Hunters didn't reveal that stuff yet, the fact that it's handling its fillers so poorly doesn't make up for that. You claim Hunters is doing character development? What character development? The only characters that have gotten any so far are Gumdramon(1 Episode) and Yuu(2 Episodes). And yea, it does include a lot of side characters(the Rival Team, Nene, Kiriha, Akari, Zenjirou, Hideaki & Kiichi), but out of all those, they've barely gotten any actual time to be an actual character. (I can forgive everyone but the Rival Team since they're the most reoccurring, though I wish they'd do better w/ the characters from Xros Wars, cuz they barely got much from Xros Wars, either, except Kiriha) Think about it: Ryouma claims he knows about what Xros Heart did a year ago, but we still haven't really gotten anything on that so far. As for Ren & Airu, do I even need to say anything? They haven't gotten much things for us to be interested in their character, to be honest, ESPECIALLY Ren. For the most part, they're just there.

Yea, I also do want to see Young Hunters continue, and no, I dont necessarily hate it or anything, I enjoy the fights, music, animation & new Digimon. But so far in terms of quality it's LACKING VERY HARD. To see that it's wasted an entire 1st Season is pretty sad. It'll be REEEEALLY HARD for it to make up for all this, but I hope it can.

    3. The one thing i totally disagree with you is that about HQ animation! I am an animator and this animation quality and coloring was level of a newbie animator.

    4. @ Anonymous 08:07

As I have said before, it is the mystery of the Watchmaker that ties the overall story arc together. Even if very little insight is revealed into his true nature, it is the enigmatic actions of the Watchmaker that provides the interest. Sometimes he helps the heroes, sometimes he helps the rivals, but he clearly has no qualms about putting children in ludicrously dangerous situations. So you see, even in the absence of the truth the Watchmaker remains an interesting character in the show.

Again, one of the great strengths of Young Hunters is that it has allowed the introduction of numerous side characters, more so most seasons of Digimon. More secondary characters are a good thing; it allows the writers to focus on specific issues for character development. Where as keeping a small cast of characters could very well have forced the protagonists to do something out of character in order to tackle the issue of the episode. Most of the secondary characters have only gotten one episode, but one episode so far is enough for each to get character development.

This season may be structured with stand-alone episodes but nothing has been wasted. Independent stories allow the audience to pick up the show at any point, instead of facing the comparatively daunting task of watching a whole season from the beginning. Moreover, each of the secondary characters, new to each episode, have received character growth, psychologically they end up at a different place from when they started the story. I think that Young Hunters is successful on a narrative level; given a fourth season to develop further I think that Young Hunters can become a great season of Digimon in its own right.

    5. Before I actually watched Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time, I came across with a lot of negative comments and criticisms when I watched the opening theme video (Stand Up! By TWILL) on youtube. To be honest, my intention to watch this season was almost annihilated by those criticisms and to be the worse, I can't believe that the opening themes is sung by a female (Again?!) !!! Since the moment when the opening theme pf the second part of Digimon Xros Wars is first sung by a female in digimon history, I really feel that the old digimon series that I watched during my childhood has changed, obviously, not to the way I like because I always relish the opening themes by Wada Kouji or other male singers. However, when I watched the opening, I could see that the animation is pretty cool! The graphics has changed and the character artlines are getting different! Also, it remains the characters from the previous Xros Wars Seasons but at the same time, making them more like adolescents and introducing new characters and digimons, including the rival teams!
Then, I started to watch the very first of Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time, despite the boatloads of negative comments swirling though the net. When I first saw the characters, I was like: " What the? The characters have quite an odd artlines, they are like simply drawn? Especially TAGIRU's face, it's like somehow distorted from different views!" Even TAIKI and YUU have quite an odd artlines too. I thought of how good the artlines are in previous digimon seasons (Not all seasons thought, the best and most stable artlines are in DIGIMON FRONTIER) I started to doubt:" shuould I continue watching it? Even the artlines are not what I expected?" What cleared my doubt was, the very first hunt of MetalTyranmon. Yes, the artlines are bad but, when it comes to combat, the animations are not that bad, it includes some moves and pace, it is quite satisfactory, compared to season 1,2 or 3(where the digimons only used special skills in a very conditional way with stable animation then the explosions occur on the enemy)! And I came to realise that the artlines actually changed to be very splendid when comes to some moments! Especially when TAGIRU is inside the clock shop! So the occasional distortion of characters' features is undoubtedly done for purpose! Also, it looks really cool when TAIKI uses a circle dimension to detect the presence of DIGIMON, this is a brand new feature introduced in digimon history! Besides, the defeated digimon is captured with a digital ring around the digimon and is transferred to the cube like digital area and is touched with the XLoader to complete the capture, although it may look like DIGIMON FRONTIER, but this is apparently a new and different feature as in Digimon Frontier, there is a long chain of data to be scanned. I am also very obsessed with the soundtrack in this season! When I first heard the soundtrack when Gumdramon hides between the building with TAGIRU to avoid MetalTyrannmon, my heart was so touched! And when Gumdramon digivolves, the song played really sets up my spirit! I was like:" YES! That's what the digimon I want to watch, that's what the spirit-burning song I like to hear!" I did not hesitate anymore, this is the DIGIMON that I persued long ago, it still remains its remnants, just it is changed but it is still the DIGIMON series that I enjoyed!"

      Delete
    6. I am also impressed by the creativity poured in this season. The hunters can actually use time shift to enter the DigiQuartz! Compared to season 2 where they use computers or season 5 where they use the transmission machine, this one looks really COOLER! Also, the digiQUARTZ here is really different from the digital world that has been introduced in all previous 6 seasons! In previous seasons, we can see trees, islands, mountains, seas in digital world, but in this series, the characters are only transferred to the same place but in DigiQUARTZ! There are still the same buidings just they are Quartz data! Although in DigiQuartz, the surrounding may seem dull and no digimon inhabitants, but it looks really formidable and mysterious! This is absolutely a big leap in digimon history! They have to enter DigiQuartz because this is the only way they can hunt digimon as digimon lives in DigiQuartz! And I first wonder why they have to "hunt" digimon? Does it make it like a competition between hunters? But I realize that, it is not that only, they hunt because there are digimons wrecking havoc in the real world with the evil intentions of human! It is somehow like in Digimon Savers where they have to deal with the digimon outbreak issue! So it makes a perfect sense for me! In season 3, the characters are called "Tamers", in season 4, they are called "Warriors", in season 5, they are called DATS member or "Savers". The introduction of the new word "Hunter" in this digimon season really impresses me as well! How creative are those people working in Toei Animation company!
Then, I continue watching every single episode of Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time, never ever skip a second of each episode. What I want to say is, REALLY AWESOME! Every storyline in each episode is so creatively planned! The plots are somehow twisted and the incidents are differently executed! Yes, there are few new digimons appearing but all those appear in each episode is inextricably related to the intentions of the characters! It seem like in Digimon Savers but I would say it is far more creative and worth watching! Also, there are lots of things and noble values that the storywriters put in each episode! At the very end of each episode, The characters that is with bad intention and work with digimon turn to a new leaf and we could learn something. Oftenly the scenes are so heart rendering! (I am just so touched with the soundtrack played everytime after the digimon is captured for the sake of the owner with bad intentions). Also, the rules in digiquartz are surprises for me as well! Each hunters can only reload one digimon each time. But when TAIKI and the others find a way to do X4 or X7 in late episodes, MY EYES CAN't even BLINK! I was fully impressed! My heart was like puounding together with the beats in their fights! XD The suspenses in each episode are well done too! Even now the old man still remains as a suspense for me!

      Delete
    7. However, I once thought that: " There is no TRUE enemy behind all these incidents? And those kids are just going to settle every case with happy ending in every episode?" Nevertheless, episode 22 breaks my thought. The tragedy is coming --- Quartzmon! That is what I am waiting for! I really enjoyed watching those legendary heroes coming back and fight together! But the tragedy doesn't last long. When I heard that it's going to end on episode 25, I was like:" Why?!!! The fun is at the peak and it is cut off like that?"Rumours said that there are lots of negative comments and criticisms that have affected its reputation. I meant, it is NOT FAIR when some people really enjoy it and it is cut at episode 25 with a forceful ending? I heard there will be a continuation and I really hope for it! However, there are lots of people keep cursing it and saying that it is the worst season ever!
To be honest, no matter is graphics, animation, soundtrack, storyline, characters or enemies, this season has got its splendour in every aspect! If it is graphic and animation, please watch episode 10 where Harpymon fights with Arrestedramon. When Arrestedramon crossed-up with Sparrowmon and rolled Harpymon the way up the tall buildings, I was like:" OMG!!! It is the most stunning and SUPERB animation ever appear in digimon history!!!" I can't BLINK MY EYES AGAIN!!! (not to mention movies, movies have great animation too) The animation is so dexterious!!! In this season, all the colours, the tones, and the lightings, angles, views, are all well executed! Also, the scripts, the conversations in this seasons is the best ever! They way the characters talk, the meaning they convey, really stab deep into my heart! When the evil kid characters voice out why they work with digimon, it sounds really mind-blowing!!! All these scenes and characters' scripts make each episode very nervous and cell-stimulating! It is like, you will whisper to youself:" why? Why you want to to this?". Yes, it is called OBSESSION! The voice actors really put in a lot of effort to make the characters like talking to you!!! For example, when Blossomon appears at school, the way the girl talks really makes me wanna punch her in face but at the same time the conversation between Yuu and her really touches my heart!!! Every single words cut deep into my heart! It is because the scriptwritter has done a very good job in conveying the emotions in scripts! I feel this emotions the strongest in this season only! Apart from previous seasons, this season makes me really obsessed! I even dreamt of being a hunter itself and hunt for peace of the world!I know most of the people can't really accept the features and characters introduced in this season. Some just can't get over the old digimon seasons. To be honest, I like TAGIRU in this season! He is made so heroic becaus he is the main character in this season, not TAIKI anymore, TAIKI already raised his XROS HEART flag in digital world before. Tagiru also has the "never give up" and "save the partners and frens" personalities like any other main characters have in other seasons! Also, XROS WARS series focuses more on characters' relationship, not just digimon-human relationship! So it feels more touching and worth to watch! But I would say the DIGIMON FRONTIER is the best in friendship aspect because there are not external partnered Digimons for each characters.Believe me, Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time is actually a very interesting and good season. It is definitely and apparently a huge leap from all previous seasons.

    8. I really hope there's is a continuation but if there is a new season, I will also always support Digimon! Since 2010 onwards, all animes are competing in graphics, creativity, sounds and plots, especially 2012 animes, their arts are so spectacular. So it is inevitable that Digimon series is going to follow the trend and break away from their old artlines and graphics! So if it will be a new season for digimon, I am sure it will be a very stunning new season! I hope Digimon really NEVER DIES! And keep releasing more and more seasons! I love every seasons of DIGIMON! This one too, under the condition of no continuation, I will stll give an overall rating of 7 out of 10! Good Job TOEI animation! Your animes make my day! =D

  26. So this means that we will have, at most, 5 episodes for the leaders and the end? It sucks. The series needs urgently a new season. Hope this will be a season end and that in a while (months, year) we will have the real battles with the leaders in a new timeslot with a better story.

Thay introduced the previous leaders knowing that the series would be ending soon. That's weird.

  27. There had better be a fourth arc because ending Xros Wars on the low-key suckiness of Hunters would be a disaster. The first two arcs told a continuing, epic story. Hunters has so far told basically no story whilst sidelining the characters we care about and retconning the mechanics of the first two arcs. There needs to be a fourth arc to redeem Hunters, and by extension, Xros Wars. Otherwise it will all have been a waste. If they end the series on episode 79, they would've been better off ending it on 54. That said, given the apparently poor ratings and lack of a toy line, I wouldn't be surprised if they're just canning it because Hunters has been such a disappointment to everyone.

So... seven episodes left, huh. That's pretty worrying.

  28. Honestly, Young Hunters quite obviously has a plot. We have seen a developing story arc that surrounds the Watchmaker; basically, hinting that he is hiding his true intentions. Is he good or evil? This is the mystery Young Hunters has been building up. There is also the matter of returning protagonists, to see how they will shape events still to come.

But above all the strength of Young Hunters has been its ability to give attention to many characters outside the main cast. We have seen many other hunters introduced; each with a unique voice actor and character model. We have also seen attention given to many obscure Digimon; both long lost fan favourites as well as entirely new Digimon never seen before.

I think that Young Hunters should continue for another season. I think that after all we have seen, the potential this show has and is building towards, is enough to plainly state that Young Hunters has earned the right to continue. I like the side characters that have been introduced, just as I like the wide variety of Digimon seen so far. For me Young Hunters has been an enjoyable and fun to watch show, it is for this reason I am hoping and looking forward to it being renewed for another season.

    2. I think Hunters will continue cause ending it now would be a disaster as someone said before.

I don't agree with your opinion about Hunters. This series is boring as hell. Sure there were 3 or 4 good episodes but others are plain boring and lead nowhere. New Digimon look stupid and basically they suck hard. Sanzomon, Gokuwmon and Gumdramon are great, but I just can't stand the likes of Cho-Hakkaimon, that idiotic Coinmon and Pencilmon. These "new" characters introduced in every episode are pointless besides the fact they help Tagiru catch(I'm gonna puke) a Digimon and become friends with him, but they probably won't be showing up until the last episode of the series. My point is, this season is too Pokemon-ish and it just goes on and on and on. Only difference is, catching Pokemon works, but catching Pencilmon and Coinmon DOESN'T!

No offense, but Young Hunters has done much more in the way of plot progression and character development then you give it credit for. Just looking at the main cast, Yuu has received substantial attention. Thought this season Yuu has had to come to terms with his past actions as villain in order to become reunited with Damemon; he’s stop being so depressed and become a happier person, that’s character development.

As for Tagiru, if anything it seems to me that Gumdramon is the senior partner in this relationship. Gumdramon is the one who comes up with the tactics, Gumdramon’s the one who holds Tagiru’s personality in check and Gumdramon is also the one who recruited Tagiru for the hunt in the first place. Frankly, I like Gumdramon as a character, it’s refreshing to see a Digimon partner who shows some initiative.

Even the secondary Digimon, the one’s that are ultimately caught, display a wide variety of personalities. We’ve had everything from Digimon lashing out in self-defence to a Faustian demon that quickly brainwashed people into joining his cult. Besides, this show’s version of SuperStarmon actually collected celebrity humans to become more powerful, which I think is a wonderful twist on the usual monster based style of anime.

When you get right done to it I’ve enjoyed Young Hunters as a show. I like the way that it has developed its cast of characters, both the main cast and extensive variety of secondary characters. Moreover, the mystery surrounding the Watchmaker and the old protagonists points to a bigger story. I don’t think that this is the end for Young Hunters yet, I think that there is every chance we will see a fourth season. As it stands now Young Hunters deserves to continue for another season.

    4. That plot that you so esteem has been seen in all of two episodes since Yuu's reunion in episode five. Two, out of thirteen. The argument that individual episode quality has been high is irrelevant in a show with ongoing narrative when those individual episodes do not contribute anything to the larger series, as is the case here. Even if it were relevant, his show has used some of the most overused anime tropes out there, like the detestable Phelesmon episode that I have seen in a hundred other shows, or the Ekakimon plot that I have seen almost as much. A show speaks of its worth with the ratings that it accumulates and the merchandise that it sells. This show has failed utterly on those accounts, actually giving away free merchandise in a futile effort to boost ratings. You may be able to convince yourself that this show has a lot to offer, but unfortunately the six-year-old Japanese children to whom it is marketed are no so clever.

Hmm… it is always interesting to consider the performance of Digimon in Japan. Especially since until Xros Wars finally received a dub of some sort (English or otherwise) success in Japan is of vital importance for the continued existence of Digimon as a franchise. Still, given what I have seen of Young Hunters so far, as a sub of course, I think that Young Hunters does an excellent job as a children’s cartoon.

The issues raised in Young Hunters may not appear ground-breaking to an adult audience at first glance but I’ve thought about it and I honestly think that Young Hunters talks about things that children can relate to. Looking at the Phelsmon episode specifically, the story centers around a child who feels alienated by moving around so much – anxiety from moving is a trauma I suspect many people have experienced in their lives. Creating a character with this mundane problem makes a story about Demonic brainwashing surprisingly relatable.

Again, Young Hunters covers many other themes people, especially children, would find relatable. No longer being top of the class (being outdone by a co-worker) or to be the best at Kendo (to be the best any sport) or even the fear of losing the family business – these are all themes people find relatable. In this way, from a narrative perspective, the Digimon are like the icing on the cake; fantastic monsters in the story as a way to address difficult issues. While the difficult issues also ground the show, so that the blatantly absurd premise of digital monsters doesn’t repel the casual viewer.

Because of this I say that Young Hunters works as a show – it is already well on the way to becoming a great season of Digimon in it is own right. The concepts are relatable and help to make the show enjoyable. The themes offered in Young Hunters are universal, relatable to the audience (especially children) regardless of nationality. If anything I wager that an English dub of Young Hunters could do just as well if not better then the Japanese original.

    6. I don't deny that some of the secondary characters and Digimon have been well-characterised and had satisfying personal narrative arcs. But those don't contribute to any kind of overarching narrative. If every one of them came back later on and did something, even if it was just to show that the number of Hunters had grown to world-changing levels, then I would be okay with that, but as it is this is a monster of the week show with a few seconds of continuity if we're lucky. Every hint towards the overarching narrative could've been accomplished in a far smaller number of episodes - or, better yet, they could've interspersed more episodes that were exclusively arc-progressing between the ones that are (at best) character-progressing.

Also there's the fact that nobody, absolutely nobody, thinks Tagiru deserved to replace Taiki as the main character. Taiki is a hero who's risked his life for others again and again. Tagiru's an unlikeable dope who only cares about himself.

Well, the way I see it – never underestimate a secondary character. For example, looking back at last season; Yuu started off as someone to be rescued, then he became a major villain and now he’s one of the show’s three main heroes. Already some of the secondary characters are tying into the main plot. Kiichi and Locomon provide transport for the group, while Hideaki and Dobermon were already important enough to be invited to the battle against Volcdramon. Again as I said before, these secondary characters are a great way of exploring issues (like just moving to a new school) that simply would have been impossible with the existing characters.

As for Tagiru, it’s true that he’s nothing like Taiki as a leader but then again he doesn’t have to be. We’ve had hyperactive and reckless leaders in Digimon before, Davis and Marcus spring immediately to mind, I’m ok with this. Honestly, I think that making a ‘Taiki 2.0’ would have been a bad idea, better to have a controversial hero then recycle an idea everyone’s already seen before. Besides, Taiki’s character development is largely done, for now at least it seems. Since Tagiru is the newest character he will naturally be getting the most in the way of development right now.

Looking at the narrative structure of Young Hunters, I think that these stand-alone episodes are more in line with what you would see from a Western cartoon. Sure, it’s different to what’s been tried in Digimon before but stand-alone episodes remain valid method of storytelling. The over-arching story is interspersed with the other conflicts, it’s still there but it isn’t taking away screen time from more pressing issues raised in each episode. This is why characters like the Watchmaker are so important; his actions (and implied influence in the background) help to tie things together. I’ve had fun watching Young Hunters so far and I sincerely hope that the plan is to continue this show for another season.

    8. The drive to rescue Yuu and discover why and how he had been corrupted lasted more than half a season. Hideaki and Kiichi have never done anything important or that other characters couldn't have done. My definition of a filler episode is one that you could skip without affecting your knowledge of the overarching plot; so far most episodes of Hunters have, therefore, been filler. Those episodes may be well-written, but they aren't contributing to any kind of larger goal in themselves, which the first two arcs of Xros Wars did. Sure you could have put Dorulumon or Cutemon's whole story arc in a single episode, ditto everything we find out about bit by bit over the course of the season - but what made the first two arcs compelling was the interlacing of numerous arcs and mysteries. Here there aren't as many mysteries, and rather than finding out more bit by bit, we're just occasionally being reminded that those mysteries exist. Sometimes not even that - those digital face-things from near the end of the intro have only ever appeared in the intro, for instance.

I'm not taking issue with you finding this to be a legitimate narrative style, and nor do I think the plot threads are uninteresting - I agree that there's a lot of potential here - but I think you have to acknowledge that, after a lengthy continuing story in the first two arcs of XW, the new narrative style is a complete downgrade in terms of urgency. Instead of being alone in a strange land, fighting to liberate countries and peoples, the heroes are fighting to liberate individuals, they get to return home at the end of the day, and the danger doesn't personally implicate them. And after the first two arcs this feels incredibly jarring. Add that to the Digimon mechanics of the previous two arcs being entirely rewritten and the introduction of a new protagonist and frankly, Hunters feels like a different series altogether.

And that's really my issue; I don't feel that Hunters is really a Xros Wars series. How many episodes even include a DigiXros now? I think I'd have preferred it if they'd ditched the old characters altogether and presented this as a fresh start - and then brought in Taiki as one of the rival leaders later, which could've been done really effectively. Instead we face the prospect of Taiki being sidelined by a character many of us just plain don't like, and we like even less the increasingly probable prospect of Tagiru's power surpassing Taiki's when we don't think he's earned that power.

Basically, unless the remaining seven episodes are incredibly strong, or unless there's a fourth arc with a more dramatic and urgent narrative, I think it would've been better if Hunters had never existed at all.

On the contrary, I think that extending Xros Wars for a third season was a smart move on Bandai’s part. We have to face facts here, as a brand ‘Digimon’ was virtually non-existent – that is until Xros Wars resurrected the franchise. Continuing with the Xros Wars title, while also including characters and mechanics from last season, helps to maintain a sense of continuity; providing much needed stability for a franchise just finding its way again. The creation of Young Hunters is a good sign, the immediate extension of the current Digimon anime shows that the brand still has vitality.

At the same time it was also necessary to make Young Hunters different from last season, to prevent the brand from becoming stale. A rehash of last season is the worst possible thing that could have happened to this franchise, new ideas and situations are what keep the audience interested in a show. So yes, we still have the DigiXros mechanic but now we also have the return of Digivolution to centre stage. Which, thanks to Digimon’s long absence from popular culture, Digivolving seems a completely new idea to a contemporary audience – namely, children who have never even heard of Digimon before.

Young Hunters is also a significant step forward for this franchise because it has gone to great lengths to change the setting from last season. So far, Young Hunters is set primarily in the Human world, in contrast to the last two seasons which only had a couple of episodes featuring the Human world. Moreover, Young Hunters has done something entirely new by creating the Digiquartz. Frankly, I love the idea of the Digiquartz; it seems like a post-apocalyptic near future Earth or perhaps even some sort of ruined shadow-world running parallel to Earth. I sincerely hope that in the future Young Hunters will reveal the mystery of the Digiquartz, until then I’m happy to see the Digiquartz in greater detail.

Also, I honestly think that Young Hunters’ stand-alone style of stories is a refreshing change of pace. Last season ended on a decidedly apocalyptic note, an epic final battle that saw all of the villains dead and the Digital World changed forever. Still, you can’t launch into that sort of violence at the start of a new season. The drama needs to build first, the audience must get to know the new characters and the stakes should start small only to escalate as time goes on. Thus far, I think that Young Hunters has done an excellent job of slowly building tension, the invading Digimon are become more dangerous and we are learning a little bit more about the show’s extensive cast of characters.

I think that Young Hunters has great potential as an anime. All the elements being assembled so far: the characters, the ideas, and the promise of old heroes returning – all of this points to something much bigger on the horizon. This is why I don’t think that Young Hunters is over just yet. Extending the show for another season would be an ideal way to let all of these elements play out. Like I’ve said as much before, given a fair amount of time to develop, the equal of previous versions of Digimon, I think that Young Hunters can become a great season of Digimon in its own right.

    10. As for me, I'm not necessarily AGAINST the making of Young Hunters and its continuation. Like you, I do see its great potential and interesting quirks about it, such as its setting in the Real World, its Hunting concepts, and introducing the DigiQuartz, a universe different from both the Real and Digital World. And I'm not against the method of Digivolution being more frequent than DigiXros, nor the pacing of DigiXroses used in this Series so far. (Although I wish we could see more characters use it more frequently other than Tagiru)

But do these things necessarily make the Series BETTER? No. They make it different & interesting, yes, but they dont really contribute to the quality of the Series. Tamers wasn't superb just cuz it was in the Real World, but for what occurred within its Real World setting. So yea, it's not really a "step forward" as you claim it to be, it's more of a "step sideways" LOL

There's no reason why the Series can't start off on a hard-hitting note. After all, that's what gets us viewers intrigued. Granted, it doesn't have to hit hard first episode, either, and yes, like you say, it can work its way up slowly and escalate. But the way Young Hunters is doing so far, its building tension is doing POORLY. The only tension-building episode has been the Hunters Gathering w/ the Leaders. Every other event so far has been something we viewers dont even need to worry about cuz apparently it's all wrapped up in one episode. You claim the Digimon are becoming more dangerous as time goes along, but I really dont see this point valid...I mean, take a look at the last three wild Digimon we got so far. Heck, the most threatening Digimon we've gotten so far are Volcdramon, MAYBE SuperStarmon, and Phelesmon. And even THOSE dont matter, cuz everything's always wrapped up in one episode. And to say they've gotten 18 episodes to give us info on the overall story, yet only a few of them actually do that? That's pretty wasteful...

      Delete
    11. I agree with Anonymous here... I'm really glad for you Kintor for being able to enjoy this show. But, all the "good points" of this season you wrote here aren't really good for most of the fans. Xros Wars had tension but Hunters? No, they don't have any tension. Only the gathering episode was tense, others were mainly garbage. 18 episodes and still NO PLOT, NOT A BIT of background for the rival team, they didn't even explain how Damemon returned only 1 year later but every other Digimon was revived when they defeated Bugramon.

You obviously aren't bothered by this serious lack of everything this season has and frankly, it's great, 'cause at least someone can actually enjoy this season...

    12. I would just like say I wouldn't even consider Taigru a "reckless leader" since he still follows Taiki and doesn't even call the shots. I believe in the show they referenced him and Gumdramon as an underling to Taiki and Shoutmon.

I do applaud Kintor for his positive outlook on this but in these cases I believe they would call it "looks better on paper" scenarios.

    13. I personally think that new ideas are extremely important for the continuation of this series. Throughout the years I kept watching each season of Digimon because every version of the show offered something new. Rehashing the same ideas over again is doomed to failure, only new ideas will keep the audience interested in Digimon. To that end I think that Young Hunters should be commended for going to such great lengths to shake up the existing formula. I think that the Digiquartz is a brilliant idea, the interaction between the Digiquartz and the Human World creates some interesting set pieces – it keeps the action interesting.

Again as you’d expect from a narrative medium, plot is also of the utmost importance. Here, I think that Young Hunters succeeds as well. Being set in the Human World has allowed the writers to expand the cast significantly. The great strength of this is that it has allowed the story to explore a great variety of issues relevant to Digimon’s target audience. The secondary characters can have problems and express attitudes that would simply have been impossible previously, given last season’s comparatively small cast of Human characters. Because of this no episode has been a waste, in reality each episode offers something new in terms of character development.

As I’ve said before, the key to understanding Young Hunters overall story arc is to understand the importance of the Watchmaker. The interesting things about the Watchmaker, and all enigmatic characters of his style, is that he doesn’t actually have to reveal anything about himself in order to carry the story. It is quite the opposite in fact, the mystery of his identity, the vague allusions to a more sinister agenda, provide a tangible hook for the audience. Yes, in time more will most likely be revealed; but until then the Watchmaker’s brief appearances are more then enough to keep things moving forward.

From what I’ve seen of the show I sincerely think that Young Hunters is building towards something bigger. I think that this is more then the promise of a ‘final battle’ at episode 25; but perhaps the start of an entirely new season. At the very least I think that Young Hunters deserves another season, the chance to have its idea, the potential of this show, fully realised.

    14. I'am sorry Kintor but I agree with the others. I do agree that the show has great potential but the thing that I think everyone is dissapointed in is once again the pacing. From watching Digimon and Pokemon the things that always struck me were Digimon has plot, character development and the 'monsters' were equals. In Pokemon it was like a sport catching and training them while in Digimon Chosen Childeren had to save the worlds with partners. I'am not insulting Pokemon in anyway but I think the thing that still has me watching Digimon all these years is the exact same things. In this last season while I am still happy to see the old characters and welcome new ones I feel it was not done that well. I don't mind slow beginnings to shows to build tension, in fact Tamers had a bit of that and thats my second favourite season. I can't help but feel they delayed the plot too much and used to many fillers with characters that we won't see much afterwards. I also feel that the character development for Yuu was good but the rival team was not developed at all let alone their digimons espeically Ren and Ryouma it like they have no souls or personalities.I would like Hunters to continue but only if the plot comes and not only in the form of fanservice (even though I screamed in delight when I saw Taichi and Wargreymon)

Sorry, I know this is old but I had to say something it was nigging my mind. Also sorry for any spelling/grammer mistakes I'm kind of tired.

  29. As both huge fans of Digimon and Saint Seiya, my feeling is mixed. Nice to see that Saint Seiya is airing on TV again after 23 years but how they made it by kicking Digimon, i don't like it.

Anyway, i really doubt that YH will only end in 25 episodes. I mean the next 2 episodes seem to be just another MotW, then only 5 episodes to include the 5 leaders, possible evolution of Dobermon, and a possible Superior Mode for Tuwarmon, Astamon, Yaksamon, etc.? And also Arresterdramon Superior Mode is IMO too lame to be considered as a series leader's highest form (or ultimate (as in original japanese) level form). Well.. they could just call ShoutmonX7 Superior Mode again for that "final battle" but i want creativity.

I hope if 4th season is really true it'll air on the channel the first 5 series aired: TV Fuji and it'll have the old prime timeslot : 9 AM (honestly, 6:30 AM isn't a good time slot, and it's a fu**ing 4:30 AM in my area).

4th season of xw is possible but i am not sure that "I" want more from xw.. I am disappointed of how they made this season so i think i want a new start. But if they make more it will be fine by me cause its digimon and i cannot not to watch digimon.

About the 7 episodes left. i am also disappointed from hearing this.. cause i don't think they will make 2 more "one-story-episodes" but instead they will make 6 more of this "one-story-episodes" and they will make a quick ending of this season. thats what i think they will do. So well i am not exited at all about "that day" as i never was since i heard about the "one-story-episodes"

Well thats all i had to say.. or wait.
I also thought that they wanted to make this season that bad cause they wanted to ended digimon. I wasn't going to say it but we live in a free "earth".. so i said it.

Well i hope i am wrong even though thats how things go.

  35. I can't understand why people says Xros Wars was a "huge success" with such awful ratings (around 1.0%-3.2%)

I bet they had a contract of 54 episodes of Xros Wars since the very beggining, the timeslot change was because the ratings were unacceptable for the original timeslot the show was given. And Hunters was probably created to be just a filler program of sorts, with no actual purpose other than occupy the timeslot while there's nothing better for the timeslot (which would explain the apparent lack of merchandise).

    2. You have to rememeber that series like Digimon are based on merchandising rather then ratings. That's one of the reasons why certain anime can keep going with terrible ratings while others like DBZ Kai got cut short due to bad merchandise sales. So for Toei/Bandai, Xros Wars was a success.

Also, Sanjo specifically said he got a extension BECAUSE the series was doing well, and considering the plotlines brought up recently (including the crossover), to finish all of that up in 4-5 episodes is laughable at best.

      Delete
    3. Except DBZ Kai was always intended to have just 98 episodes.

Maybe the merchandise sales is the sole reason why Xros Wars is lasting that long, but ratings-wise, it never did well.

      Delete
    4. First, Dragonball Kai was said to be "100 episodes" then it was said at 98 then 100 then 9-something.

It wasn't "always intended" to be anything; even when the first article came out, it seemed illogical Toei could set it to that number and still cover everything. (I'm sure they would've covered the Buu arc if the show didn't get cancelled).

      Delete
    5. 97 episodes to be exact. The 98th episode was not aired because of the earthquake and tsunami.

100 episodes was just an estimate, the series ending up with 98 episodes doesn't mean it was purposedly cut short.

Seeing how the final number of episodes (97 if you insist) didn't deviate much from what it was "originally planned", it's pretty much clear they never actually intended to show the Buu saga.

      Delete
  36. Xros Wars' end is near? Ohohoho That's Good News!
It wanted to reinvent Digimon but ended up completelly decharacterized it. I'm glad Namco Bandai and Toei are realizing their mistakes.

  37. Umm, I think Tagiru has recently done a good job as a leader, and I can see more leadership, unlike the previous few episodes. I like Gumdramon as he's a very cute and determined dinosaur.

I think there will definitely be a 4th arc. Let me analyse for you all why is this so?

We are left with 7 episodes, right?
So, it's confirmed Ep73,74 will be filler episodes again, right?

    So, left 5 episodes.
But Riku Sanjo mentioned stories will end in an episode...
So, there's a very high possibility ep 75,76,77,78,79 will all be filler episodes.

There can't be any conclusion which is necessary for an anime. It's a bit illogical to bring the 4 google boys back abd then, finish it in 5 episodes. Then, the anime might as well end at ep54.

In a story, the filler episodes must always be less than half of the entire story.

So, there must be a continuation, and hence there will be a 4th arc. The 4th arc should have a plot when it airs. And likely, we will get to see evil digimons again.

  39. Phew finally read through everyone's comments xD
-Like Kintor, I also like this season of xros wars; a world different from the human and digital world.
-One thing I am a little confused about is this season "leap through time" considered 6 season still, or is it 7th season. If it is 7th season, then I also think another arc will be release in the future. If not then this season may be the last.
-If the rumors about the movie is true, then maybe the movie will explain what has happened
-As for the the rumored 4th arc, the mysterious world sound like the digitalworld
-Didn't it mention near the beginning of the series that team are of 3. We havent really seen that many teams of 3.
-As for the old man, seeing how he does helps everyone. Makes me think that he is testing them. After testing them maybe he'll allow the strongest team to enter some kind of tournament; which turns out to be a disaster so Ryouma his gang team up. Or if he is a villain then maybe he is testing to see who is worthy so he can take the players digimon. For example, maybe Volcanodramon was the old man's digimon; and he wanted to see who was able to succeed. So Yuu, Taiki, Tagiru, Kiriha, Ryouma and his gang, past leader. Not sure if anyone remember Teen Titans, but I am thinking of something similar to the "Master of Games" episode. ^^

  47. Young Hunters is too far gone to be saved especially with only 25 episodes..even if they signed to 54 most viewers would've stopped watching already with the crap they're spewing out. I'm highly skeptical on watching when the "leaders" come into play on account that I don't want to ruin my childhood image I have of them. And yes we all know whoever is producing these shows have been doing a half-assed job at plot/character development as well as animation wise. We still don't now jack squat about the rival team. Episode 72 pretty much summed up these producer's laziness.

I'm hoping this "end" is just a break to re-asses themselves and get their head out of their ass to continue a better storyline, Even as much as I am dissapointed, if this really puts a stopper on future episodes I say good riddance, can't do any more damage to the Digimon sagas.

Call me a die hard digimon fan but we the viewers are paying their salaries, it shouldn't be shameful to expect better from these people.

Most people are too paranoid, and maybe they don't like how YH "downgrade" original Xros Wars characters (ΩShoutmon, Nene and maybe Zenjirou), so they feared that the 5 leaders will get the same treatment. As for me, i'm 60% sure that at least they'll do Masaru right, what with his fist style.

    2. I think it's a good idea, but you see fans are afraid how it will turn out. Most fans don't really appreciate what's given to them by now. After this last episode, you can't really expect something serious from this season because....for me, it ruined the credibility of this series. It's best to just pretend 80% of the episodes in this season didn't happen and then it would be a decent Digimon season.

Also, you have Daisuke and Taichi at the same age in one spot. I'm curious how they'll explain this, but there's a possibility we may not like what we see. And if they continue with this shitty episodes, I don't think we can expect something.....good...

    3. There really shouldn’t be any cause for concern about the return of the old protagonists. Anything that occurs in a crossover won’t change what has already happened; the previous seasons of Digmon will remain just as enjoyable after Young Hunters as they did before.

Still, for what it’s worth I’m looking forward to seeing how Young Hunters handles the old protagonists. Plus, the time paradox between Tai and Davis should be fun to watch; crazy implications between the past and present is one of the reason why I love time travel stories like Doctor Who and Back to the Future.

All things considered I’ve been enjoying Young Hunters so far; with its entertaining stand-alone stories and huge cast of characters. I’m eager to see how each of the old protagonists is introduced into the story.

    4. hehehe Am I the Only One who doesn't like Taichi?

I hate how he and Zero never lose a single battle in the manga >:[

WOW, i can't believe someone like you existed. I do don't like Taichi, he's fu**ing overrated, heck, i prefer the manga version than anime.

    1. Seeing how the last season's final form was also a Superior Mode, it's very likely.

I just hope the final episode won't be follow the "story started & finished on the same episode" scheme.

  56. I'm going to claim this series to be cannon. I'm pretty flexible in watching shows but Young Hunters isn't Digimon...it's like Bakugan and Pokemon had a baby and aborted it in the dumpster. Frickin Toei.

Me as a Digimon is embarrassed to claim so with this series on air.

    1. I think you wanted to say that you as a Digimon are going to claim this series to be NON canon? xD

    2. Cannon? So you're calling a weapon?

  57. Still at least Tagiru is actually SUCCEEDING at what he's doing.

Ash Ketchum on the other hand is a complete loser XD

    ReplyDelete
  58. I dont see Tagiru as succeeding xD lol. He wants to surpass Taiki, yet in all of the episodes Shoutmon rarely had to Digixross to defeat an enemy. As for Gumdramon he usually has to Digixross to win >.<

    1. What about Ash Ketchum? He always wanted to be a Pokemon Master, yet he keeps getting humiliated by unexperienced trainers X)

  59. I just hope that the rest of Hunters would be better, I feel capturing Digimon is getting boring, why they don't give us something new beside evil Digimons appear and cause trouble......

  60. Why hasn't episode 80 come out yet? Is there a production delay or was it cancelled or what?

    1. 79 is where it ended. There probably won't be an episode 80 unless fsr they continue straight from the scene where 79 had ended

  61. does anyone know of any more news about digimon and if theres going to be another season

  62. In retrospect I feel that Xros was a nice addition to the Digimon series, yet far from comparable to the first 3 seasons.
